Educational Work
Improvement in Educational Work is a Requirement of Today.
Thanks to the high scientific, teaching and creative potential of the lecturing staff and many- year-experience in teaching and education a system of students' educational work has been developed at the Department of Finance.
Treating the system of education as a holistic educational process which involves the interaction of independent interconnected components that provide optimum conditions for the students' self-improvement, educational and organizational activities of the dean's office, the faculty's traditional events, the departments' teaching and educational activities, the system of tutoring and the activities of students' self-government have been identified as the structural elements of educational work at the faculty.
To solve the important problems of the academic groups educational process management, educational work experience sharing, teaching resources development and communication with the public and other subjects of educational process, the Council of tutors as an advisory body at the dean's office was established at the Department of Finance on September 1, 2007.
During the academic year, the Council successfully coordinated the tutors' work in planning, organizing and managing students' educational work and rendering practical help to inexperienced tutors. The Council's main objectives were identified at the first meeting and they included:
- Analysis of schedules of educational events in academic groups;
- Discussion and approval of the faculty's schedule of educational events;
- Review and analysis of educational materials published in professional journals and newspapers;
- Teaching resources development for educational and information classes;
- Studying the experience of the best tutors of the academic groups of the faculty.
The teacher's personality, the tutor of academic group, invariably remains a major participant of the educational process. From the first days he helps the students to feel members of the collective, carries out both individual and group organizational and educational work, keeps in contact with the students' parents, finds out the students' problems, gives assistance, supervises the process of studies, sees to it that the students follow moral and ethical standards of behavior both at the Academy and hostel.
Since the introduction of the Council of tutors the Academy's Scientific Board made a decision to appoint the most experienced teachers as tutors of academic groups. However, life proves that young talented teachers find a common language with the students more quickly. They better understand the inner world of the students, their needs and problems and afford more time to communicate with the youth. The successful activity and interesting reports of some faculty tutors at the meetings of the Council of tutors' can serve as an example. The following reports are among the most interesting ones: “The influence of tutors on the first-year students adaptation process under the conditions of higher school modernization” by assistant professor U.Z.Vatamanyuk-Zelinska; “Profession choice motives and their impact on the studies of higher school students of the financial and economic profile” by Z. Ryvak; “The role of the tutor in the development of personal and profession-oriented qualities of future specialists of financial and economic profile” by senior lecturer L.M. Luchechko and “The role of the tutor of an academic group in the moral and aesthetic education of the students” by senior lecturer A. R. Zakhidna, etc.
An important part of educational work, which has become a good tradition at the faculty, is modal educational events carried out every term. This year the modal educational events prepared by the senior teachers O. Kulyk and N. Pilets'ka stood out among the rest.
Psychologist S. Nezabytovska attends every meeting of the Council of tutors and helps students and teachers to overcome complex psychological situations and contributes to establishing a good moral climate in the group. Her everyday work with the young people and the results of the diagnostics allow analyzing the relationships in academic groups; moral, social and professional orientation of students; receiving accurate information concerning the education level of the youth and educational work management.
Thus, the system of educational activity created at the faculty helps students to develop individual lifestyle, activity and communication. Therefore, the teachers rightly believe that one of the most important professional qualities is to know and understand young people, adequately assess their personal qualities and individual potential.
A new academic year has commenced and brought many new challenges. We hope that this year's work of the Council of tutors will be fruitful. And we will be able to achieve positive results through a comprehensive, professional and balanced solution to all issues related to the educational process, by the skillful work of the tutors of academic groups and, of course, the great desire of our students to develop personal, professional and business qualities.
