The department trains students in the speciality “Economic Cybernetics”, forms specialists able to make decisions on the base of thorough analysis and forecasting of financial economic and social processes, to study the strategies of economic activity. The curricula of this speciality alongside with the profound knowledge acquiring in economics, social and humanitarian disciplines suggest advanced learning of economic and mathematic modelling and such modern computer technologies as programming technologies with the use of high level languages Visual Basic, C++, work with the data base and their design, the habits of web-design and polygraphic and graphics design of printed materials, computer graphics. Thanks to such significant training, the specialists in economic cybernetics, namely the graduates of LSAF, are demanded in the labour market.
The teachers of the department prepared and published a great number of scientific and training methodical literature. Four manuals classified by the Ministry of Education and Science were published. They are “Work with the data basis Microsoft Access 2000”, “Work with the Microsoft Excel 2000/XP/2003”, “The Principles of algoritmization and programming: VBA Environment”, “Optimization Methods in Economics”. A great number of laboratory practices (such as “1C Accounting 7.7”, “Microsoft Power Point XP” and others) were worked out. They help in practical mastering knowledge acquired at the lectures.
The department follows the demands of the Bologna process in the organization system of the learning process. The credit module system of organization of training on the basis of the ECTS is put into practice at the department.

At the chair there is a post-graduate department.
During the period of its functioning 41 Master has been trained.
Taking leading experience of Ukraine”s educational institutions as well as of other European countries helps the increasing of the quality of learning process. Specifically the department has lasting partner relations with the department of applied informatics of the Technical University of Lods (Poland). The teachers of the department perform mutual scientific researches with the Polish colleagues. Every year the best students of the speciality have an opportunity to take a two-week practice at this university. Thus, according to the students” program of training in the speciality “Economic Cybernetics” and the Polish students worked out a web site for providing possibilities of exchange of mutual scientific and research programmes innovations in the learning process and for performing scientific researches. The creation of the site allows to involve the students, fellow workers of other institutions and organizations to the scientific cooperation. The contacts of the department with educational institutions of economic profile of Germany, Slovac Republic, etc are organized.
