Extracurricular activities at the Accounting and Economics Faculty
The Faculty creates favorable conditions for students to study, but also offers them opportunities to have leisure and fun. Students can realize their creative abilities in students' self-government, talent groups, sports and fitness groups, students' club etc.
Students' self-government is comprised of four core committees – science and research committee, culture and education committee, sports and mass events committee and social issues committee – and has become an integral element of the social and cultural life at the Academy.
The Faculty also has a tradition of conducting annual cultural events such as an initiation ceremony for freshers, New Year celebrations, Valentine's Day, Women's Day, Students' Festival of Talent, and Cyberneticists' Day. Various other extracurricular activities enjoy popularity – classes in sports, fitness and physical rehabilitation groups, hikes, friendly matches, sightseeing tours etc.
Year after year the Academy students go to the shores of the Black Sea. Last year apart from resting they had a chance to meet and hang out with students of Odessa Institute of Finance. To cut a long story short, that trip established tighter relations between the two educational institutions. Everyone was really happy with the ten days they had spent in Odessa. The organizational committee did a great job as each student came back from the trip with overwhelming impressions and emotions.
During their studies juniors and seniors have the opportunity to undergo military training at the Military Institute of Lviv National Polytechnic University and obtain the rank of reserve officer, which is important for their further employment.
The Accounting and Economics Faculty pays special attention to promoting international collaboration in the sphere of education and science. It actively cooperates with the Technical University of Lodz (Poland), which witnesses to its international authority and good image. Within the framework of an agreement between the Information Studies Department of the Technical University of Lodz and Economic Cybernetics Department of Lviv State Academy of Finance Polish students had an international internship at our Academy in September of 2008. Their task was to develop a joint web-page with some information on cooperation and then present it, which they did. The students of our Academy have already made three visits to Lodz. Students' exchange programs and joint internships help us get an insight into how the credit module system works in higher educational establishments of neighboring European countries, study relevant software and maintain friendly relations between the two students' communities.
One ancient Chinese proverb has it, "You can become smarter in three ways: with the help of experience – it's the worst way, through imitation and copying – it's the easiest way, and via deliberations – it's the most honorable way.” The Accounting and Economics Faculty creates appropriate conditions for students to be able to choose their own way of achieving success in business or science.
