Department of finances
Department of Finance is issuing and implementing training bachelors, specialists and masters in the field of Finance. Among the graduates of the department - highly skilled specialists in the field finance, which are working in the field of public administration, particularly in the State Treasury, the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Administration, the State Control and Audit Service, the Accounting Chamber, enterprises, institutions, organizations of different forms of ownership and subordination, commercial banks, insurance companies, educational institutions, research institutes.
At present time teaching staff of the department consists of 29 people. Highly qualified team of the Department of Finance, which helps students to gain knowledge and practical skills, is headed by Doctor of economic sciences, professor, rector LSAF Buryak P.Y.
The Department has faculty with extensive experience in educational work, also strong practical experience in financial and tax authorities, insurance organizations, banking and fiscal institutions (Buryak P.Y., Oleynyuk R.E. - Deputy Chairman of the CRA “Dnister”, director of organizational and analytical department, Safin O.R. – 1st Deputy Chief of Pension Fund of Ukraine in Lviv region, Pikhotskyy V.F. - Head of Territorial Administration of the Accounting Chamber in Lviv, Volyn, Rivne and Ternopil regions).
Such a teaching staff of department allows to perform as the task on high level with efficiency (conducting lectures, practical seminars, control measures of knowledge), so providing timely preparation and good design of teaching provision of preparing students as to the subjects assigned by the department.
Strengthening the role of the financial and economic education in Ukraine promoted the expansion of teaching methods at the Academy block of financial disciplines.
Today the department faculty provides educational process at the department of Accounting and Auditing and Economic Cybernetics. Among the educational disciplines, which are teaching by the teachers of the department, the main place take disciplines in the cycle of basic and professional-oriented economic disciplines, including: “Finances”, “Money and Credit”, “Finances of industries”, “Financial Markets”, “Insurance”, “Banking” etc.
New training courses and special courses contribute to enhance professional skills of students:
“International monetary and credit relations”, “The market of financial services”, “Mortgage lending”, “Foreign exchange market and foreign exchange transactions” etc. Overall, according to educational plans for bachelors, specialists and masters teachers of the department provide teaching more than 20 disciplines.

Today the department works after curricula for classic higher educational establishments, the new principles of studies are entered according to the requirements of Bologna convention. The collective of department works on introduction into the educational process of effective forms of educational-educator process (lectures, seminar and practical classes, discussions, business games, educational practices). The module-rating system of examination of students' knowledge, according to which two times during semester intermediate attestations of students' knowledge are conducted before beginning of examination session is introduced.
The educational practice helps students to seize practical skills. For every discipline of the department are created educational-methodical complexes which are usually complementing and renewing according to introduction in the educational process of innovative technologies and requirements of employers to practical preparation.
Their practical preparation is based on principles of permanent of studies, sequence of learning by them of necessary applied knowledge and forming of professional skills.
The practical side of educational process is provided by the fruitful collaboration of department with public financial institutions: by the Ministry of Finance, State Tax Administration of Ukraine, by the Control-revision Management of Ukraine, commercial banks, insurance companies.
The department has a positive experience of the scientific work with students, which is directed on enlisting them to active scientific activity, promotion to participating in scientific conferences, Olympiads and competitions. With the start of a third course, students are enlisted in the scientific work: under the management of experienced teachers they prepare course papers, in which they investigate the theoretical and practical problems of finances, money circulation and credit.
The important task of teachers of department of finances is stimulation of educational-searching creative work of student youth. An annual student scientific-practice conference has become traditional, as a result of work of which collections of theses of reports are publishing. Students take an active part in the All-Ukrainian student Olympiads and in the interinstitutes of higher education student conferences.
The teachers of department usually improve their professional skills in financial and credit institutions, higher educational establishments, and also in the courses of in-plant training and seminars in the Kiev national economic university, Institute of regional researches and so forth.
Teachers transfer the knowledge extracted during training to students at lectures and during practical and seminar studies.
Processes of the European integration bring new accents in development of higher education. Therefore educational process on a faculty is constructed in a context of postulates of innovative according to advanced achievements of a science, culture, increase of mobility and competitiveness, according to challenges of the global world.
