About the Academy

The Academy is situated in the centre of ancient Lviv in the famous Kopernyk Street, 3, known since the imperial times where aristocrats, bankers and financiers lived. The history of the educational establishment dates back to August 30, 1957.

Petro Yuriyovych BURYAK, rector of the Academy, doctor of economics, professor, academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine, honoured economist of Ukraine.

Lviv State Academy of Finance is a prominent higher educational establishment of the 4th level of accreditation, which trains professionals in the speciality “ 0305” – “Economics and Entrepreneurship”. The Academy is subject to the Ministry of Finance, thus the goal and objectives of the educational activities meet the priorities of the financial system development. Curricula and syllabi include professional training, providing a high level of fundamental knowledge and practical skills.

At the Academy there are such faculties as: Finance, Accounting and Economics, Extra-Mural, Post-diploma and Preparatory Education Faculties. The training is carried out in such specialities as: “Finances and Credit”; “Accounting and Auditing”; “Economic Cybernetics”.

 There is a postgraduate course in the speciality 08.00.08. “Money, Finances and Credit”. “Visnyk of LSAF. Economic Sciences”, a collection of scientific works, included into the list of professional editions of the НАС of Ukraine in the field of economics, is regularly published.  

The important factor of students qualitative training is cooperation with expert practitioners, heads of financial, taxation, control and auditing organizations and their involvement in the academic process. The Academy maintains scientific and business contacts with foreign higher educational establishments and scientific institutions of economic profile, namely Technical University (Lodz, Poland), Higher School of Economics and Administration named after professor E. Lipinsky (Kielce, Poland), State Higher Professional School (Jaroslaw, Poland), State University (Szczecin, Poland), Higher Professional School of the University of Applied Sciences (Lyauzits, Germany), University (Gyor, Hungary).

The Academy material and technical basis allows to carry out educational and scientific activities at a modern level: two academic buildings of the Academy ( Kopernyk Street, 3 and Medova Pechera Street, 53) are equipped with modern computers. All the administrative and structural units are joined together by the local computer network. The teachers and students have an access to the global computer network – the INTERNET. The Conference hall of Scientific Board, the assembly hall, gymnasium and fitness halls, two libraries with reading rooms, a students’ canteen, a hostel with all modern facilities (Pluzhnyk Street, 2), and a first aid post are at the students and staff disposal of the Academy.
